Side Skirts
Has anyone fitted only side skirts on their boxster? What did it look like?
I have a '99 and the front and rear bumpers are flawless, so I am reluctant to replace them at this time. Thanks. |
I have a 2002, and I found a good deal on the side skirts on Ebay. I like the look of the whole kit, but haven't found the right deal yet. I did add the painted rear diffusers (also Ebay) and the painted bumperettes to the back, and I think it looks good. I get a lot of compliments!

Thanks, that does look good. What brand of skirts are those? Anyway you could point me to where you bought them?

Here's some good pics of my car with factory skirts (Aero II):

Mine are the factory Aero II side skirts like Cesar has. I found mine from an Ebay seller about 7-8 months ago, but I would not recommend them to anyone. They only had the 1 set anyway.
I would recommend Cesar's exhaust mod, however. Sounds great! :D (search crios exhaust mod) |
I got mine off of E-Bay also. A Porsche dealership was clearing out their stock room and these were in the back, already painted Guards Red. I paid $200 and thought I was going to have a heart attack the last 4 minutes of the auction.

MN986-
it looks good! have you got any other pics of your car showing the side skirts from different angles AND photos of those rear diffusers??? those diffusers and skirts are on my "list" of things to buy... along with a lot of other stuff... litronics, GT3 sway bars, PSS9, drop links, etc etc etc.... :) If you havea nny other pics i'd enjoy seeing how the car looks from the back and other angles. did you install these yourself or just take them to a body shop and have them do it? if you did the latter, how much did they charge you to install? i found these online on ebay...not OEM, and they are fiberglass, which I know is NOT as good as polyeurethane, but they claim these are some better kind of fiberglass that is flexible like poly... watch video... they look identical to OEM... anyone know if these skirts are okay or if they arej u nk? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-2004-Porsche-Boxster-GT-3-Look-Duraflx-Side-Skirts_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4149c6b3ddQQitem Z280410633181QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fA ccessories |
They look nice, but add 15 pounds of weight to the car. :D

So installing side skirts and leaving the bumpers stock doesn't make the car look,
"unbalanced"? |
Here are some pix of my rear diffusers and side skirts. The company who made the skirts and humps is now out of business, thankfully. Their poor service was only surpassed by the crappy quality of their product.

Sorry for the delay, I had to snap a few more pics. Here is my 2002 with the factory Aerokit II side skirts and Ebay rear diffusers.
My diffusers look the same as RandallNeighbour's, but his side skirts look a little different. Are they Aerokit I? SD Boxster has the same side skirts, but being a 2003 he has the diffusers as part of the rear bumper cover and a more defined horizontal line, which make it look a little more integrated and match the side skirts even better. The Ebay side skirts look like the Aerokit II design, but I cant speak to their quality. I think the side skirts (and the whole aerokit) are a nice, tasteful addition to an already great looking car. Good luck! |
