best manual 6 spd trans. oil

what is the current favourite manual trans. oil to use?

I've tried Royal Purple in my Mazda and it did improve the smoothness and action especially when cold even though it was pretty good to begin with. The shift action is light years better than the Boxsters. I'll probably try it in the Boxster next and hope it smooths out the trans since it doesn't feel so smooth right now.

Redline is the best stuff, not sure if they have the correct ones for our cars tho.

I've tried Castrol full synthetic and was not too happy with it. I switched to Mobil 1 and it's fine. The car is still difficult to shift when cold, but once warmed up it's fine. Still I'd try something different the next time I change the trans oil. I'd still prefer something a little slicker than the Mobil 1.

I have the Redline 75W90 in my box right now, and it's fine. The Mobil 1 you buy in the gallon container (which is a completely different product than the stuff you buy in a quart) is excellent, and is supposedly used by Farnbacher Loles.

While I have not tried it, according to Paul Guard (of Guard Transmission fame), the best stuff available is from Lubrication Engineers.

I've used Royal Purple in my 5 speed boxster and I liked it.
