Cayman update

Cayman will come in 3 versions now. Base model with the 3.2L engine. A middleground model with a 295hp 3.4L engine. Best of all, behold the Cayman S with 305hp. The car has already beat the Carrera S around the "ring."

Per Motortrend: http://motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_0412_ev_porsche/index.html
"Of course, if we put the 911 engine in the Boxster, it would outperform the 911." This refreshingly candid aside, delivered by Dr. Wolfgang Duerheimer, executive VP of research and development, pretty much sums up the entry-level Porsche's predicament: Despite the mid-engine roadster's inherent handling advantage over its rear-engine big brother, the junior model must never be allowed to out-hustle the iconic 911. It must remain a rung or two behind as the 911 climbs the performance ladder."

This is going to get very interesting... :D

i bet you the 996 and 997 owners are not happy campers that people can spend 20-30 grand less and get equal or better performence and have a cayman mistaken for a carrera.

911 owners are funny. They keep buying the 911 in spite of its inherent handling issues vs the Boxster.

As I said before, both are great cars but for pure handling, you can't beat mid-engine cars.

It I was so inclined, I would take one of my S cars and ..........

Well you get the point.

I can't imagine that they will leave the powerplants in the boxster unchanged. It just doesn't make any sense, to come out with a new, more powerful, less expensive car that goes faster.
