I had a Senoff Wind Blocker installed

While browsing these forums (and a few others) since getting my Boxster a few weeks ago, I have been considering a wind screen. After seeing Jays ad and reading the threads about them, I decided to look into it more.

It turns out he lives about 30 miles from me! So I shot him an email and we discussed my needs - he then invited me to come up and offered to do the actual install for me if I decided to get one.

I went up today (BEAUTIFUL drive and home in the Georgia mountains) and Jay installed a full wind blocker for me.

It took only two screws in the roll bar and two small strips of padded tape to damper the minor vibration of skipping the other 2 screws (to avoid unnecessary holes).

I then proceeded to head home with the top down, side windows up and the new windscreen securely installed. It was awesome - for the first time in my car I was able to enjoy the drive without having my my head battered about the cabin by the wind.

There was no whistling, no extraneous noise and best of all I also didn’t need to have the cabin heat on 80 to enjoy the ride (it was in the high 50s but sunny today).

Anyway, I took a few pictures of the install, and after having the car cleaned tomorrow I will post them and some 'after' shots.

I just wanted to throw it out there that it's a great screen, looks nice and that Jay is an absolutely great and quite energetic almost 80 year old man who was a pleasure to deal with.

Thanks to the forums for pointing me his way.

The complete one. I added a small decal I got from ebay. I'm thinking about having my side windows tinted soon and will probably tint this also.

I just got home unfortunately - I will take and post a few tomorrow on my lunch break. Hopefully the shine lasts from my wash.

When i first got my Box, I thought the little plastic thing was a joke. Well, at least until I put it in. I couldn't believe how well the little wind deflector works. I can actually keep a lighter lit at head level going 70 miles an hour.

im thinking about getting the surround deflector that jay has got (aka complete) then put some nice tint on that and my windows... i think i would be pleased with the outcome.

a wind deflector is a must! I used to have a miata...no wind blocker and with the top down, you would get so much wind that it was annoying...

on my boxster, with the top down and my windblocker...I almost think it's quieter than with the top up! :) if you then roll up the side windows...there is vritually NO wind in the cabin..even at freeway speeds.

you can carry on a conversation in the car, with the top down, NO PROBLEM. even if it's cold outside....it is nice and comfy too. just put the heater on and fire up the seat heaters....

what kind of decal did you put on your wind blocker? pictures!!

I bought Jay's left/right blockers. Nice product and a really nice guy.

It occurred to me that I never posted pics. Here is a set on Flickr that has several shots of it installed. I think it looks pretty good.

This URL is incorrect. Needs an "s" at the end.

I have the two smaller ones for the 987 roll bars and love them!
Had them almost two years and wouldn't do without them. They're even better with the center windscreen out.

Sorry, I'm being stupid...you're saying that by removing the wind deflector in the centre and just having the solid blockers on each side, there's LESS turbulance than with the central piece in place?!

No. Poor wording on my part. It is great with the center section in. This is what's necessary with Wifey for top down. It is also much better than it was with the center section out. It sure seems to buffet around my head less than it did before I put the filler panels in. This is my favorite experience: center windscreen in it's carry bag stuffed into the storage compartment under it's mounting spot (No Bose Premium package). :D
Enough wind in the driver compartment but without the annoying swirling around the roll bars.

Also another big thank you to Jay. The filler panels fit perfectly and took about 15 minutes to install the pair!!

scottmcdaniel 02-25-2010 11:05 AM

Just wanted to take the opportunity of this being bumped to say that after several months, I am quite happy with the windscreen. It's been a pleasure to ride around during the winter with little turbulence in the cabin.
:-)

Nice! Glad to hear this is working out well over time. I contacted Jay yesterday and I will be driving up to have him install one for me in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the info on the product.

Love your screen name Yoadrian!!
I picture Stallone, with that moron hound dog look on his face, calling to her!
