Well, the 987 shift knob fits on the 986...

Just did it for fun. What do you think?

Now that's really cool!
I much prefer that shift knob over the stock one on the early cars, not only for looks, but for actual feel. That round knob annoys me at times.

Wish I had spare cash to pick one up currently.

BC.

Thanks. I actually got the whole knob and boot from a dismantler for pretty cheap. I then just removed the knob from the 987 boot...there's just a plastic clip and ring that holds the knob to the boot, and it just unscrews and pulls out. I then had an extra boot from my 986 lying around because I had bought the aluminum horseshoe boot for another one of my shifters, and so I just put the 987 knob on that extra boot, and voila.
