Tire replacement question

I currently have Kumho Ecsta ASX tires on the front and rear. The fronts are practically new but the rears are about down to the wear bars. I want to replace the rear tires with a better tire. Are there any issues with just replacing the rears with a different brand?

Regards,
mike

It's not the very best thing to do... I wouldn't do it (the tires wear Rr/Fr approx. 2:1 - I'd replace the rears with the same and next time replace them all), but I understand the economics and while you may notice some different handling, espec. in wet and not get the best response from the new, better tires that you'd expect, generally speaking, you'll be OK.

Ditto what bastard said. To add to that, if by 'better' you mean 'more grip', then definitely don't replace just the rears. The ASX , while a high-performance all-season, has nowhere near the dry grip and handling characteristics of a summer performance tire.

If you just want a better quality tire, I'd still be leery, but if you have to go that route, get another high-performance all-season tire.

Don't do it!
Recipe for a spin.
Follow the previous advise.

Thanks for the replies.
I ordered the same Kumho tires from Tire Rack earlier today and they have already been shipped.
