About $28K-$35K - the cost of a 987 or 987S.

The 987 (2005 & newer) is a totally different car from the 986 (1997-2004), even though they have similar lines. You won't be able to use 987 parts even with some serious surgery. They won't work. You can us 996 parts but it will still have the same basic outline as your current 986.

If you like the 987 so much, why didn't you buy a 2005 instead of a 2004? There's probably only $4K difference. Availability?

it can be done, but it's not cheap. Your looking at new fenders, bumpers, hoods, lights, wiring, inner fenders, and an extremely good custom shop. A few have done it though... A couple guys on 6 speed made their 996 MK1 (same basic front end) to 997 gts replicas.. Like I said mentioned though, lots and lots of work.

Ebay used to have a couple fiberglass front end 986-> 987 conversion for sale, dont know if it still exists. Some even included lights.
