Hood shield?
anyone have these?
Do they reinforce the hood enough to protect the outse from getting dinged and dimpled by road debris? http://content.madirect.com/img300/fr3392.jpg |
I put both the front and rear set in. Unless you're driving with your lid up, they will do absolutley nothing to protect from any exterior occurences. Aside from the plastic push-in 'screws', there's very little actual contact between the shield and the deck lid. This is designed to protect from the inside of the trunk(s) and will do nothing to prevent dents from outside debris.

No. One issue is your paint, these do nothing.
The other issue is the aluminum hood. Very light, very easily dented. Can't imagine these doing anything on that issue. However, what they might guard against are outies, which can ocur in these cars when you close the hood and you have something protruding from the inside. This product might help that! :) Quote:

That's exactly what they are intended for, and they also look good.

Are there holes in them for the Hood Bra hooks?

I'll look but I didn't recall seeing any...I'll let ya know!

I sure wish the first owner of my boxster had put these in, because I have "outies" (dents from the inside out) on both front and rear trunk panels due to an idiot shoving way too much into the trunks and forcing them closed. Cracked the paint and put dents in the metal I'll have to have a body shop remove when it's time to repaint my 1997.
If you put a lot of luggage in your boxster's front and rear compartments, I'd say it's a very wise purchase! |
