Interoir air vents

I tried to install a OEM cup holder on my driver side this weekend..... :ah:
I ended up pushing 3 of the vents out of their spots and now it looks funky. Is taking apart the vent easy to do?

How do these darn cup holders install? They look super simple but I gave up after 10 minutes.

Nope, sounds like you're doing it right, just push the small vents back into place once you have the cup holder installed. It's pretty common for them to pop out of place while installing the cup holder.

My cup holder installs into two tabs on the left and right at the top, then one hole at the very bottom.

There is also a little button on the side of the cup holder that retracts the "pins". It makes it easier to install if you push the button in.

That's what I have.

How do I get the vents fixed back to their correct spot? Does the entire vent piece come off to where I can access the back of it?

You have to remove the vent assembly and work on it from the back side. It has a flimsy plastic retaining clip that keeps the house of cards in place.

I remember getting it fixed just right and then screwing it up while re-installing the assembly :troll:

Last week I noticed a few of the vent fins were going wonky again but with the cup holder in place, their direction isn't so important to me.

BTW, remove the one from the passenger's seat unless the passenger is a very aware person. I've had friends tear it off the vent twice now while exiting the car.
