New Wheels Here! Uh-oh?

Hi Everyone,

I ordered a set of Boxster S II wheels from wheelsandcaps on Ebay. They are supposed to be 17x7 and 17x8.5. They arrived today ( ) ... but I am concerned with the measurements.

The face of the rear wheel (pictured) measures 18.5in (+1.5in) ... and the side 9.5in (+1 in).

The face of the front wheel also measures 18.5in (+1.5in) and the side measures 8in (+1in).

Is there some sort of rim measuring math that I am unaware of?

Thanks guys!

The wheel size is usually indicated somewhere on the wheel. Probably on the back side.

Find that and you will know for sure.

You need to measure at the point the tire bead hits the rim, not the outer edge.

I agree with Tommy. You got 18's.

I'd just leave positive feedback and buy some rubber for the wheels and enjoy them!

Of course, 18 inch rubber costs more, wears faster, and is a bit more harsh in ride, but hey, they look a LOT better.

If you buy tires online, be sure to tell the sales person the size and width of the wheels to get the right sized tires. The guys at Tire Rack are wonderful to work with and their prices are good too.

Send a message via AIM to blinkwatt
Check on the inside of the wheel. It should be stamped there.

I changed my post. I just went and measured the face on some 17 inch wheels I have. They measured a little over 18 inches across the front.

I still would find the size stamped on the wheel to verify for sure.

Hey, I have those same wheels on my 04. Your measurements are the same as mine. Mine are 17's. Put on your rubber and enjoy.

I loved those rims ever since I had a glance at them. They are truly a thing of beauty!

Put some rubber on em and enjoy! Be sure you leave the ebay seller a rating, it will help people in the future.

I was reading the posts and had not looked at the pictures until I had read a few. I went back to look at them and to my surprise they were the ones on my 03 Boxster. I agree, they really look good on the car.
