Brakes on a Boxster S
I've been noticing low brake pedal after getting the car detailed a few weeks back. I have to step on it harder to brake.
Wonder what caused it and what I can do to "fix" it. I have 17,000 miles on the car and I don't brake hard. |
How long has it been since your last brake fluid flush or bleed?

Check each caliper and make sure there are no signs of fluid...something has suddenly created a soft pedal.
As Sboxin recommended, I would flush (if it hasn't been done in a couple years) or at least bleed the system; you'll learn quickly if there is a problem, thereafter. |
Pop out your pads and sand off the residue left by whatever they sprayed on your rotors.....

thanks all.
i have not done a bleed at all. Maybe it's time to do it. I called Porsche today and they think it may be some type of grease that the detailer left on the rotors/pads. I should try the bleed. |
Most likely moisture-ridden fluid. Brake fluid will actually pull moisture from the air. That's why there is a 2-yr. service interval on it.
There is also the possibility that your master cylinder is at issue. No easy check except to swap the fluid and see if things improve. If not, suspect the mc. |
I hosed down the brakes last nite and it's significantly better now. Maybe it was some grease/chemical that the detailed sprayed on it.
