Definitions please

I get in the dark on some posts that use abbreviations and words I do not understand. Is there someplace in this forum that has them explained?

Right now I wonder what "desnorkeled" means. Sounds like a nose job.

There's probably a thousand posts on the subject. Use the "Search" at the top of the page. Also---sometimes it's spelled "desnorkel", sometimes "desnorkle".

If you search both spellings, you'll probable get 2000 posts.

Original Equipment Manufacturer

I know that one from being a computer geek. It seems that just "OE" is also used in the Boxster world.

And desnorkle is the removal of some of the parts prior to the air filter on the left side air intake. Its debatable whether it makes more power but you get to hear more induction sound which some people like.

The piece called the snorkle is a plastic cone which is on the airbox leading to the driver side intake vent. It's used by Porsche to silence the intake for markets where there are noise regulations.

There has been LOTS of debate as to whether there are any performance gains to be had from removing it (snaps off, and is reversable), but it does give a nicer sound w/o it.
