Pin 18 Relay Hack? (operating top while moving)

Can someone please point me in the right direction of exactly where to find Pin 18, so that I can tape/cut it and operate my top while moving?? I understand that it's a very easy hack, but I can't find exactly where this "Pin 18" is. I searched extensively for instructions on how to do this and keep coming up blank - the closest I find is this thread, but I still can't find Pin 18. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, clarification or (better yet) a diagram/picture would be much appreciated; thanks!

I think you generally do not want to operate the top over 35mph.

I think the SmartTop and other similar plug in adapters say not to be going more than approximately 40km/h or 25mph max.

I don't own one and I haven't don't the pin hack so I don't know if that's just being overly cautious or what.

I shoot for 30 (on deceleration) but I'm sure it's been more like 35+ before. Pretty uneventful but I don't think I'd push it.

Be nice to see how fast you can go at a sustained rate while putting the top up...or holding 1/2 way. Any guinea pigs that need a new top any way?

Also, I think the early years can'T hack it as well the later ones. The top was re-engineered somewhere around 02-04.

Are those pins fragile?
i.e. Are the pins likely to break if you decide to reverse the mod & bend them back to normal?

If you're scared of that happening, instead of bending the pin over, just cover it in electrical tape and then reinsert it.

Ughhh.... I tried and tried and just could not get the electrical tape idea to work. The slot was too tight and would peel the tape back when re-inserting the relay. I ended up just bending the tab. If it breaks.... well then you don't have the safety control of needing to be stopped. Big deal. I bet you can always get one of these relays from a salvage yard pretty cheap too. I wouldn't worry about it, bend it, and be done with it in 30.567 seconds.

BTW, I only operate mine below 25 mph. Just playing it safe and following the Smart Top limit that they set.

just bend the darn pin. i did mine in like 30 seconds. i made sure i was going to bend the right one...then bent it...stuck it back in..and bingo.

now since I have a plastic top, this does me little good to put the top DOWN as you still need to get out to "chop" the top...but it is EXCELLENT for putting the top up...now as I"m rolling into work...or home...I click up my ebrake ONE click....which turns the ebrake light on..but doesn't actually engage the brake...and then push the button as I'm driving like 10-15mph and the top goes up while I roll into my parking spot.

it only saves a few seconds..but it feels cool to be rolling up to my spot and have the top closing.

if i had a glass top and could do this to put the top DOWN and UP it would be sweet. wish i had a glass top even more now!!!!!!

you know..my plastic top did just tear...but my wife insists that $1400 for a new glass top is a waste and $375 for a new plastic window is all I get to do... :) maybve I can convince her the 1000 i saved can go towards litronics....
