BLOWN ENGINES BOXSTERS tell me more
I am looking at Boxsters 2001 to 2005. Is there a problem? I am a former Jaguar E-Type owner. I'm use to problems but I do not want to pay for an engine replacement.

Frankly, it's a crapshoot.
The M96 engine has it's problems and a number of them do blow up. But, the majority don't suffer an engine replacement. It's just that you always have that sword of Damocles looming over you. I owned an E-Type for about 12 yrs. and while I agree they had issues, they tended to be mostly nuisance ones while I believe the Boxster, in addition to a number of nuisance issues (AOS, RMS, Spark Plug Tubes, Ignition Switch, Top micr-switches, etc.) does have some more severe possibilities - D-chunk failures, IMS failures, etc. If you get a good one, well maintained w/ service records, it's a nice car to own. |

Or if you love the car enough you can call me and address the issues BEFORE you have a failure...
The majority of engines won't have any significant issues, but the ones that do will break the hearts of theor Owners... I swear that I need to hire a former funeral director to answer my phones and help people greive... You should hear some of the voice mails that I have stored in my system... And the majority of those people denied this could happen "to them". |
