BLOWN ENGINES BOXSTERS tell me more

I am looking at Boxsters 2001 to 2005. Is there a problem? I am a former Jaguar E-Type owner. I'm use to problems but I do not want to pay for an engine replacement.

Frankly, it's a crapshoot.

The M96 engine has it's problems and a number of them do blow up.

But, the majority don't suffer an engine replacement.

It's just that you always have that sword of Damocles looming over you.

I owned an E-Type for about 12 yrs. and while I agree they had issues, they tended to be mostly nuisance ones while I believe the Boxster, in addition to a number of nuisance issues (AOS, RMS, Spark Plug Tubes, Ignition Switch, Top micr-switches, etc.) does have some more severe possibilities - D-chunk failures, IMS failures, etc.

If you get a good one, well maintained w/ service records, it's a nice car to own.

Or if you love the car enough you can call me and address the issues BEFORE you have a failure...

The majority of engines won't have any significant issues, but the ones that do will break the hearts of theor Owners... I swear that I need to hire a former funeral director to answer my phones and help people greive... You should hear some of the voice mails that I have stored in my system...

And the majority of those people denied this could happen "to them".

With the utmost respect, replies like this might make potential owners (and maybe current owners) run far, far away from the Boxster. :o
