Boxster Axle Nut

Is it necessary to put grease on the axle threads before torquing the axle nut to 340 ft/lbs?

No. All torque specs, unless specifically noted otherwise, assume a dry thread. If you grease up the threads, you'll over-torque the nut by as much as 50%.
