Any way to clean/clear up rear platic window?
 

I searched but couldn't find any posts on this, so sorry if this is a repost.

My back window is in great shape, just barely see out of it cause of sun bleaching(I guess). It always looks better after I wash my Box, so is there anything out there to bring life back to my plastic window?

Get all 3 Novus products in a kit.
 

Numbered #1, #2 and #3.

Wash first. Let dry. Start out using #3. It will abrade off the top layer. Then after that has been cleaned off, use #2 to polish out the scratches that are left. Then polish with #1. Do the inside with #2 and #1 only as it probably hasn't had the accumulation of "haze" the outside accumulates.

Then use #1 every 6 months or so. It seems to put some life back into the plastic as if it was lubricating it.

Mine is at least 5 years old and looks pristine after this treatment. Looked like you describe when I first got the car...cloudy and rough surface...now smooth and clear.

I have used Novus system as well, and like it. I have also used Plexus plastic cleaner (http://www.plexusplasticcleaner.com/plexus.html) and have been happy with it as well.

In fact, I can't decide which I like better, so I have both and tend to alternate between the two...

Wow thanks for the help guys/gals. I was worried I would have to replace the window. My top is like new. the guy I bought my Box from lived in Cali. The harsh cali sun has definatley taken its toll on the window, but the top still looks fatocry new.

I guess if both products work, which is easier?

Well, Novus is technically a 3-step process, so you could argue that Plexus is easier. But you don't have to use all 3 steps with the Novus---the more aggressive ones are for the first time, if your plastic is in bad shape.

Bottom line: they're both pretty easy to use.

I have watched a few utube vids on it. On guy redid a jeep and it looked pretty darn good after he used a buffer. I have a buffer but would prefer not to use it unless it is necessary. are any of these sold locally at like autozone,walmart ....?

The Novus and Plexus? Don't think so---though it's a possibility with the Plexus. I've always gotten them online.

I've never tried the buffer application technique---it's been a long time since I've read the instructions (It's late, and I'm being too lazy to run out into the garage to get the containers), but I don't recall that being mentioned. Might work fine, dunno. :confused:

BTW, if your plastic is really in bad shape, I'd probably start witht he Novus system.

Plexus is quite good but it won't do miracles. Give it a try.
