Newbe Question

What is the logic on the gas gauge on the boxster. What are the 4 s for?

ChefCarnivore 07-09-2009 04:35 AM

2nd question

I forgot to add this. Is there a way to default the air handling to "off" so I don't have to manually set it each time I start the engine?

They are fractions, ie 1/4th of a tank.

What do you mean by air handling? If you are talking about the climate control, I just hit the minus button until it says "Off" and it stays that way between restarts.

Not mine

I also hit the minus sign but on restart it revert to air conditioning.

Guess you are right about the quarter tank indications. It just looked odd to me.

Do you use auto setting? try going to "manuell"(that still cracks me up) :)

The 1/4 2/4 3/4 4/4 is a german thing. I've seen it in Mercedes cars too. The thing that's annoying to me is the speed ticks in 25mph increments. I hate that.

I too have to reset the fan to off every time I start the car. There's no way around it.

Mine always remember the previous fan/AC setting.

Different years, maybe.

mine is a 97

Fan needs reset on restart

TriGem2k 07-10-2009 03:49 PM

I remember my cousins 97 did the same thing. The fan always turned on when the car started. My 2001 doesn't do that. It remembers the last setting. Must be a 1997 thing.

It must have started in '01. My '00 still resets.

I have a '99 and it resets on restart as well.

you think the 0/4, 2/4, 4/4 is weird, on my old 944 the tachometer was backwards and the gas gauge went to 1/1...

I only picked up my 99 boxster a few weeks ago, but I noticed the same thing on my auto AC controls. If it's set to "off" when I shut off the car, it will come back on to the previously set temp, but with the fan set to zero bars on the vertical scale.

It think that is effectively the same as off, since there is no fan running. Also, from the engine sounds, I'm pretty sure there is no compressor running at that point.

Just my $.02...from another noob

Problem solved

Lagrasta,

That is what mine does (on startup it shows last temp and fan off and manual) which I assumed was different than "OFF".
