Looking For A GT2?

The local Porsche dealership has an 03 Guards Red with 15K mi, ceramic brakes, and CPO. I don't follow the prices on these (and in this economy how can you keep up?), but they've got it priced at $79K. Based on a quick scan on AutoTrader, that looks like a good price, but I don't know.

Woodhouse is excellent to deal with. If anyone wants me to look it over, drive it, and report back, I'd be more than happy to.

Just goes to show everyone that buying new is for idiots with more money than common sense. GT2 CPO at 80k. Wow.

I'm curious, what do you think is too good to be true? It's not some Internet scammer on Craigslist, ebay, or Autotrader. The car is CPO'd, so it has to be in good condition. What surprises do you think are lurking?

Heck, the $79K is their starting point.

It could've been in an accident and was not reported to insurance. Paint might not be original. Nobody can prove otherwise unless they go look at the car in person.

It's got 3 owners and none of them drive it much.

Report says "Fleet, Rental and/or Lease Use Record(s) Reported to AutoCheck". So it could be a lease or a rental.

PCCB rotors might need to be replaced as they can wear prematurely if the car was tracked. CPO do not cover this. They're about $8000 a pair.

I can almost guarantee you guys that this is a typo. The car is probably on sale for $179,000.

It retailed for $280 new, right? This seems to be the logical explanation.

I tell you what... I'll call or email them later today to get the skinny on it.

I think the price may be correct. The Porsche web-site also lists the following GT2's:

2002 $89.9 9,000 miles
2003 $108 27,000 miles

I saw a MINT GT2 (red) forget the year... with almost non-existent miles and tons of upgrades get no interest on Ebay and some of the other forums for $100K.

Porsche prices were marked up in a buying climate that was full of credit for everyone. That's only a shadow of its former self now so no one is buying new which kills the prices of the used. Unless really rich people start buying used cars you're going to see some drastic price drops for their "left overs".

And the new 997 is out...the new 997 turbo is coming...and the new GT2's and GT3's are coming.

I think the fleet/lease stuff usually means it was a company car. You'd be surprised how many of the 911's are company cars.

As for the PCCB...you can also just go to the big reds.

Did anyone read the original post? It's a 2003... Not a 2008.

No, $180k price, no PCCB's...

Still not a bad price to start from, at a dealer no less.

The 2003 GT2 has PCCB's as standard equipment. You can see it listed in the link. First item, too. The yellow calipers are a dead give-away too, if you're not a "poser"!

I love how a car costing three times mine doesn't come with the same aluminum gauge rings...unless you pay extra for it.

As for the price, Its great and all but that kind of performance can be had with a regular Turbo and some serioous modifcations from shops who are dying for work right now. I guess the rear wheel drive thing is the only catch.

PL, but it would also have to go on a significant diet though. The GT2 is a few hundred pounds lighter than a 996TT.

Good point. The GT2 is the ultimate factory Porsche and you sure as heck pay up for it!

In 2003 only 90 GT2's made it to the USA. And owners in that crowd report that about 30 of those have been wrecked. So, it is a very limited production car. AKA the widow maker.
