T - 2 days and counting

I don't know how many of you would hop into your Boxsters and drive 1200 miles on a whim, much less 1200 miles one way with a DE mixed in. But that's what I'm about to do. Seattle to San Diego and back again. Also attending the SDR DE on the 12th with 2 drivers. I'm excited.

I'm estimating almost 3000 miles in 1 week.

I'm no stranger to long distance road trips, but this will be the first in a modern car and first in a convertible, and first with a pretty female companion. :-)

On the way down will be one shot down I-5, the way back will be along the coast. I will try to remember to get pictures along the way and post them as well.

Wish me luck! I'm hoping the sun will shine and the Porsche god's will smile upon me.

My longest road trip was actually three in a little over a week. I needed to drive from Virginia to Florida and back (1500 miles round trip) three times in a little over a week, for 4.5K+. I never mind the long road trips, but on the few times I took a passenger, they were never wild about the experience.....

I have done 2 long trips so far in the Boxster. Both trips were to the Tail of the Dragon with Forum members here. Each trip was about 2,200 round-trip.

Tons of fun!

I did 3500 miles in a 300ZX once. It was not bad. I think the Box will hold up just fine, you too!

Have a good trip.

My wife and I drove from Newport, KY to Fort Lauderdale FL for the Orange Bowl this past New Year's. Round trip was 2300 miles in three days. No problems. Got stuck in one traffic jam that was a little tough on the clutch. However, overall it was a lot more of a fun drive in the Box than in my wife's Jeep Liberty. I would do it again in a heat beat.

I purchased my '02 Box S from a dealer in Dallas-Ft.Worth. After receiving quotes on cost to ship in an enclosed transporter, I decided to fly to Texas and drive the car the 1100 miles back to northern Illinois.

Took a day and a half, but was enjoyable and cost a heck of a lot less than the transport option. Never driven it longer than 125 miles one way since.
