curse my fingers!

i pulled out the headlight assembly to replace the turn signal and my fingers grabbed the reflector before the assembly was ready to slide out...well you can see what happened. unfortunately it looks like the previous owner ( just purchased my first boxster on saturday 5/23/09 - 7 days ago ) had glued the reflector on.

not a big deal since i want to replace them anyway, but not on a saturday afternoon.

Not a big deal man. Those tabs that hold the corner triangle on can break easily. Just do what the PO did and glue it back on. :p Glue it from the back and then re-install the lights and you'll never be able to tell.... unless the glue come undone and it falls off at speed. :D

thanks kirk, that's what i've done.

hope it holds up for a little while.

after some looking at it, there are four tabs - two on the top near the outside, one in the top corner and one towards the bottom of the assembly.

looks like the previous owner glued the one on the bottom. the one that broke on me was in the top corner, leaving the two outside ( and the little dot between them).

well after playing with it, i was able to get the two outside to lock and i guess the pressure from the dot seems to hold it. but it was still a little flimsy. so i got out the glue and added it at the bottom ( there's a little lip that contacts the back of the reflector ) and put it bad together. wouldn't you know it, i snapped off one of the good ones!

but for now the glue seems to be holding *crossed-fingers*

I used Goop with great results. Those things break all too easily.

One of mine was glued on as well! It fell apart when I removed the lamp housing to install my Litronics way back in 2006.
