beverage leaked into stereo

My girlfriend left a cup in my cupholder over the weekend. Apparently it was some sort of pop and it leaked down into the stereo and gummed up the buttons. The 0 key will not work and I need it to put the security code in after cleaning up the mess. Is there anything I can do now? Or is this just a lost cause?

I don't think the problem is with the button itself because, I popped it off and used a small dowel to try and push the button and nothing happens. I believe it's with the connection from the face plate to the stereo. BTW, it's a CDR220.

You might try some electronics connection spray cleaner and some pressure canned air. Works on keyboards.

I wouldn't mention this to GF unless you need to dump her anyway!

Slide it out and disassemble it. Clean it out with wet q-tips or whatever it takes. This happened to me once with an older car. That sticky crap can raise havoc if not removed.
Or was it diet soda (non-stick)?

Have girlfriend use her own car from now on. Remove cupholder.

Funny, I actually did remove it and put my V1 conceal display on one side and a Parrot bluetooth on the other. No more cupholders.

She had to ask what happened to the cup holder so, I told her that "someone" left a cup of pop in the cupholder and as a result the stereo doesn't work. She got very quiet and then said, "I'm sorry". I left it at that.

Alcohol on a Q-tip works as well as wiping Windex into there. My wife spilled a McDonalds pop and messed up the stereo as well as the climate control. I fixed the CC but I have a new Clarion to replace the cdr220. Worst drink holder location ever.

It's a sports performance car, I think they assumed people wouldn't want to have dinner while pushing a corner as hard as they can, that's why the first versions cup holder was the driver's legs..

Can I change the location of the stereo? As it sits now, from top to bottom is cupholder, stereo, storage bin and climate control. Can I swap the cupholder and stereo?

I'm looking at buying a Pioneer AVIC N3 but, with the screen flipped out, you wouldn't be able to see the V1 conceal display that's where the cupholder used to be.
