Stay Away from Ebay 'Chrome' Grill Kit
I foolishly purchased a 'chrome' grill kit from ebay. Well, it is just shinny plastic trim that you can buy from any auto parts, 20ft for $10. The guy cuts it in 4 pieces and calls it a trim kit. In his add it says 'chrome' with no mention of plastic. Where I come from chrome is metal, nickel and chromium on steel or aluminum. I'm really annoyed that the guy won't refund my shipping for his misleading ad.
Stay away! |
If you paid him with PayPal, I believe that they offer a mediation/refund service.
That is the downside with EBAY, I just purchased some trunk lifts that do not work at all. Guy bailed from EBAY, he was a power seller and I paid him by check. Never again. PayPal or nothing. Live and learn. |
Paypal mediation is not as helpful as one may think. Basically when it comes to Ebay, do your due diligence on the seller and try to get as much information on the item as possible.

Actually, you can chrome plate plastic and it is done quite often. Most cars' grills are chrome plated plastic (at least the newer cars...from BMW to Buick). A lot of consumer products sport chrome plated plastics too (buttons, etc). The steps are exactly the same as you would use to chrome plate metal, except for an added step of etching the plastic with something to allow the plating process to stick to the plastic.
I'd say that if it is indeed chrome plated, then I'd have to side with the seller unless it specifically said chrome plated metal in his ad. Jwocky, I like the sig pic. :D |
Thanks Lux :p Thought the posts could use a little color eye candy ;)
