How can I know if top relay switch is bad?

Hey guys,

Today my top wouldn't go up when I got in the car. Any way to test my relay switch to see if it's gone bad or not? I don't want to just go buy a new one without knowing. I swapped out all related fuses and it seems like if it was the motor I might hear it trying to turn. Dammit. I gotta go to work and it's raining.

Tim,
Mine just rattled loose once after an AX day. I unplugged the relay, reinserted and was back in business. Worth a try.

Of course you pulled the Red Clip - you'd be surprised how easy it is to forget.

Assuming you have pulled it, my money's on the latch/header microswitch. These easily stick, while the top relays rarely give out.

Take a pencil, chopstick, even a screwdriver (though I prefer a non-conductor) and work it in the hole to make sure the switch is operating properly.
