When to Change Tires

Hi all, the PS2's in the back probably have another 500-1000 miles on them before I am down to the wear bars. I usually run them close to, or on, the wear bars and them change them, but I sure dont like hydroplaning, so I am thinking of getting new tires soon.

This will be the third set of rears to with the same set of fronts (which still look pretty good) so I am thinking of getting new PS2's all the way around. Any comments on when you guys and gals change out your tires?

Ed

when they reach the wear bars or every 5 years, which ever comes first.

If you feel that you might have hydroplaning issues with your current worn tires then its time to change. The money you will save over the next few thousand miles is nothing compared to the risk to your car and your health if you get in an accident because of a spin in the wet. New tires are cheap insurance. Really, only you can decide when its right to change.

I usually go past the wear bars some, but change them before any cords or belts are exposed. I don't drive the boxster in the rain much so hydroplaning isn't an issue.
