Boxster Tie Rod hitting top of Air Duct right side only
 

My front right side tie rod is hitting the top of the air duct just in front of the round notch. It is making a rubbing noise (nonmetalic..it does sound like a plastic rub) when I go over rough roads. The left side is fine. I can clearly see where it is hitting and I could notch it out, but I was wondering if there is a suspension issue here. It is a 2000 Boxster with only 30K miles. The strut looks fine. The car rides great, good tires, tracks fine. Any ideas?
