Strebo bypass and Fabspeed muffler?
Guys,
Can you mix a Strebo bypass pipe with a Fabspeed muffler? I want to do the bypass pipes first and the Strebo pipe is $300 verses the Fabspeed at $500. Eventually I want to install the Fabspeed muffler because I really love the sound! Any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks, -Steve |
Steve,
The only possible downside to the Stebro bypass is the diameter of the pipe; it appears to be materially smaller than the Fabspeed. There was a good post where the two were compared and the Stebro is definitely smaller, but I don't have I.D./O.D. specs. Can't remember if the post was here or on www.renntech.org. FWIW, I have the Fabspeed pipes and vouch for their size and quality. |
You would not be able to use any other midpipes with the FabSpeed muffler, as it is a proprietary design and requires the use of their midpipes, which come with the muffler when you buy it.

With Fabspeed you can buy the mid pipes first and the muffler later, right? It's a budget thing...

how does the Fabspeed system compare to the NHP/Maxspeed system?
both offer what look like "stage" systems where you can buy them piece by piece. I have a pedro hacked mufler now, but would eventually love to doa full blown system like NHP or FAbspeed.... are either considered better than the other? both sound really cool in the various youtube videos i've seen online. it sounds like once you get ONE you are stuck with it if you want to expand and add more pieces... |
I have the Fabspeed pipes, stock manifolds, but an Oettle (similar to Pedro) modified muffler. Sound is terrific (Evo Hi-Flo intake included); no resonance, but "baby" GT3 sound.
Works for me and everyone that hears my car is very curious of my setup. |

Their midpipes (cat deletes) are meant for use with stock mufflers or other aftermarket mufflers. Their muffler only works with their midpipes, which come with the muffler when you buy it. |
I wouldn't suggest the Stebro bypass pipes. They're not mandrel bent as I was told before I purchased them and they don't fit right. I have them on my car. If I had it to do over I would've bought the Fabspeed muffler and bypass pipes. The Stebro race muffler has a good sound in the topend but, resonates horribly. I'm not impressed with Stebro's products.
