ODBII Scan and clear codes

Any recommendations for an ODBII scanner that is low cost but will also clear codes if needed? I do not have access to a laptop so I prefer a scan tool with screen instead of the cable and laptop software.

Thanks

Some options

1. Don't buy, borrow. From an auto parts store or a friend.
2. If you buy, be aware that generic code readers can only do so much and there are Porsche specific codes that they won't clear. Actron is the most common brand.
3. Next in capability is the Durametric s/w. It does all of #2 and some Porsche specific stuff. But not all.
4. Porsche specific tools like the PWIS or PST2 do all the Porsche codes and options. They are hard to come by and expensive.

hey , i just got a boxster today, i hooked it up to a cheap code reader, and when i pressed the reset button, the car died. since then i have not been able to keep the car idling

i start the car, it runs for 2-3 seconds and then dies, if i pretty much floor it will barley stay running and just idle real rough

I'm not sure what you did, if it was the immobilizer, the car wouldn't start at all. But you might want to try disconnecting the battery for an hour or so and see if that resets whatever it was that got set.
