2000 Boxter S. Need a clutch in that Atlanta Area. DiY Friendly?

Hi,

I'm currently in Belgium, and my girlfriend's clutch went out in her Boxter S. She's mechanically friendly, but doesn't have the tools or setup to do a big job like a clutch job. She'd love to save a few bucks, so if you are in the area and want to earn a few bucks and a free dinner, she'd love the help. Otherwise, if you can recommend a good mechanic in the Atlanta area, and the approx. cost of doing a clutch, that would be great.

Thanks!

Mike

Recap: You are in Belgium. Your girlfriend is here. You are asking people you've never met, over the internet, to visit your girlfriend, and possibly take her to dinner.

You, sir, are a brave, brave man.

Shouldn't this ad be on Craigslist? Just kidding! Seriously someone please give him a good recommendation. Also, I know a clutch is fairly easy to diagnose, but how do you know it needs a new clutch?? I would feel better having her go to a reputable shop in the area. It may cost a little more, but what kind of monetary value can you put on a good piece of mind??

good luck

(I also have a 2000 blue S)

Ha! Interesting post because I travel to Belgium all the time, and also just replaced my clutch on my 2001 Boxster S.

I used a mechanic in Roswell. It's called Import Auto and run by Bruce Cohen, very nice guy from S. Africa. He has been working on my car since I got it and I trust him. It cost about 1500 to have him replace the clutch. Not the lowest cost solution I know, but far from what the dealers charge.

Heading back to Antwerpen in 2 weeks! Good luck!

Could that be because she drives without shoes?

Just kidding; I wish you both luck.
