Increased road noise on my 2003 Boxster
Recently I have noticed that the noise inside the car has increased when I am driving. I had the tires rebalanced and checked for nails and it still persist. Any idea of what is causing this?

Just a guess, but likely tire wear.

Rear wheel bearing?
My ex-01S got considerably quieter inside when the rt RWB was fixed. |
I second - wheel bearing...starts as road noise...and gets louder.

I had a noise that seemed to be coming from behind the radio. Got louder when turning. I replaced both front wheel bearings and the car is as quiet as can be- at least at the front.
I took the wheel hubs off myself and took them to a Porsche shop to have them press in the new bearings. All 8 bolts holding that retaining ring broke off. Five+ hours of labor to Time-sert them ($$$). Then a caliper bolt hole stripped as I was putting everything back together. They must have felt sorry for me since they did that one for free. They said they do those caliper bolt holes all the time. They even had a little jig made to hold the drill bit in the correct position. |
derb, you're making me relive the whole time-sert issue with my front calipers. Ugh! I pray I never have to do that again.
gh, if your tires are worn, replace them. If that doesn't cut down on the road noise, I think you've got a worn bearing. How many miles are on the odometer? |
