Crazy CD Player

My CD player will play just great for about the first hour. Then it will start skipping real bad with alot of static. It's like it gets hot after an hour and needs a break. It does this EVERYTIME I use it. I don't understand. It's done this since I've had the car so it's not a new problem. Has anyone ever encountered this problem or have any suggestions ? Like I said the first hour it sounds GREAT. Weird.

If it's the crappy POS Becker unit that came with the car, you should have it replaced with a decent head unit.

Mine did this too. Now I have an Alpine in the dash and it not only sounds 10x better wired to the factory amp and speakers, it also plays mp3's and I have four hours of music on one CD. Suddenly, that CD tray below it will hold 25 albums or more.

I do wish I'd bought one with a mini stereo jack so I could use my iPod in the car though. You should get that if you can afford it.

If you really want to keep the factory look, you can get the unit fixed or swapped out for a better Becker unit from a company that advertises in the back of Panorama.
