Key turns freely in lock, door wont open
 

My bro has a 99 boxster. His key fob nor his key will open the door. The key just turns freely in the keyhole, but nothing happens. His key fob is blinking fast and the interior light is blinking, so what could be the deal? He had it parked for several days while away for christmas, could it be that it went into lockdown mode? Thanks.

I had the same problem. Lock mech. In the door is broken & the car disables the remote unlock after 7 or so days of sitting. I had AAA unlock it, started the car & remote works fine. Go to a stealership to get the lock fixed.

how much did the lock mechanism cost, and what did you do to get AAA to unlock it?
