Cayman TA Style Wing For The 986 Boxster
Hi Everybody,
Would any of you guys be interested in the Cayman TA Style Wing for the 986 Boxster/986 that has the Zeintop? I have been talking with a company that will most likely be able to make one if there are enough interest and possibly get a group buy. Please put down your name on the list below if interested.
986 with the Zeintop

986 regular trunk

I've always liked the Cayman style wing, hence the one on my Box S. The Zeintop one takes it a bit further.

I like the Cayman style wing and would like to have one for my car. I haven't found anyone making anything similar for a 2004 though.

Put your name down on the list if interested. Personally I think the wing looks very sexy and aggressive. After seeing the TA Cayman, my obsession for that car... so I decided I will get a Zeintop and a TA wing, just trying to get my 986 looking as close as possible to the TA Cayman. BTW they said the wing should be doable, just a bit of modifying to fit the 986. Are there other Porsche forums? maybe one of you can post this thread on the other forums. Thanks.

So what company are you working with?
"if there are enough interest and possibly get a group buy."
What kind of group buy saving are we talking about?

The company is Xtreme Motorcars. The price has not been set yet. They want to see how many people are interested/in for the group buy before giving a price. They sell the Cayman version for $1850. My guess is if you buy individually the price will be $1850, if we get a group buy going/more people the lower the price will be.

OK, now what years are they going to make it for? I have an '04 and the spoiler is differant on mine that other years. Are they willing to make one of those spoilers for those of us who own one?

The best price for a Zeintec wing/spoiler is through Zeintec directly - about $850 painted & delivered. However, a guy named Chip got one and had problems with it - lower on the corners & higher in the center...not sure if he got it rectified.

They are making it for the 986 models. I believe it should fit years 97-04.

They are not making a Zeintec wing. They are making a TA Cayman wing for the 986 model and if you got the Zeintec hard top, they will make the TA Cayman wing that will fit onto your Zeintec hard top.

2004 model spoilers have more "girth" that '97-'03 spoilers. If the company will commit to making one for us that own '04 "girth" endowed spoilers then I'm in. Look at my spoiler below and you'll see the difference.

It will fit your car. Here's the response I got:
"the 03 and 04 wing on Boxster is different on the back side or bumper side
but not on the front of the electric wing
the rear trunk is the same for all 986 models and that is where this wing attaches so it would not makea difference"

My apologies, I thought it was going to be a retractable spoiler. I'll pass.

03-04 have the same "Girth". This is when the model was last updated before the 987 came out.

I'm interested, but $1850 for a spoiler is ridiculous IMHO, so being that I wouldn't be willing to pay 1/2 that for one, its sort of pointless for me to sign up. Sorry

I've been looking for a good 986 spoiler for awhile but I also think that the price is somewhat high...
BTW. We talked about the roofs from DMoris recently on another thread so I just checked theirs site for spoilers and found one that looks pretty good:
