Dallas, know any upholstery shops?

I've decide to get my driver's seat repaired. It looks pretty ugly. Do any of you Dallas guys know of any good upholstery shops?

So far I've got a name/phone number that RUF gave me and another place called Tin Lizzie Affair. Evidently this place is supposed to be the place for interior excellence so I have no worries about taking it there. Only, that place is expensive and I figure a seat shouldn't be too tricky.

What do you guys know?

Jeph,

a buddy of mine collects older cars and got an MG midget completely re-upholstered with amazing results. He uses exclusively small, inexpensive shops that do a good job. The midget ended up winning a concour at the state fair this year. I will ask him where he took the MG and post it back. Don't be surprised if it is in oakcliff though!

I find the more ghetto the shop, the better the quality. That goes for mechanics, body shops, and probably upholstery shops.

I will trust a dump in a shady area of town than I would a place in Highland Park or something.

Thanks Michael.

Tin Lizzie in Dallas

I have had Corvettes, Jaguars, Porsches, Mercedes and numerous other marque interiors done at Tin Lizzie over a 24 year period. Lucinda and her staff are absolutely the best in matching factory leathers, designs and stitch patterns. I would look no further.

Ok. Talked to my Friend and he gave me the details of the guy he uses and surprise-surprise, it's not in Oakcliff BUT it is about 1 hour drive from Dallas:

K&M upholstery
212 E Main St
Gun Barrel City, TX 75156

903-880-5039

You can either drop off the car or the seats.
The guy appears to be flaky about timing but does excellent work.

Good Luck!
And let us know what you end up doing and the results!

Michael

Thanks for the info guys. I'll probably go with Tin Lizzie people. RUF gave me a phone number and it seems they won't be able to do my car until the new year.

Either way, when I get it don't, I'll post the repairs.

Just a crazy thought but...... If I lived that close to Mekico, I'd scope out whats avalable across the border for leather works. If that's too impractical and it just might be, I'd look for wrecks, replacement race seats and especially the GT3 light weight seats, which should cost about the same as the vehicles entire worth.

Mexico is close to me as North Carolina is to you. Ha! As for GT3 seats, they take up too much room thus preventing me from scooting the seat back -and I need all the room the standard seats have to offer.
