Part of my ipod adapter is stuck in my cigarette lighter. If the car is off, can I use needle nose pliers to pull out the metal piece without causing any electrical problems?
Ops ...1 more thing...i do not want to disconnect battery unless I really have too.

The cig lighter (in my '99) is live 100% of the time and IIRC, the '00 is as well. So, to be safe I would either...

Pull fuse D5 (for the cig lighter - LHD) or pop the panel and disconnect the plug from the backside before reaching in w/ conductive needle nose pliers.
