Imagine if the PO really babied it before this? Would be a good core engine to do something with if you could steal it, If you owned a body shop you could make it worthwhile but not for much more than 5 K.

derb 12-03-2008 04:50 PM

It's not that bad. It looks like there is still one good amber side marker.

blue2000s 12-03-2008 04:55 PM

That'll buff right out.

husker boxster 12-03-2008 04:55 PM

At first glance it looks somewhat enticing, but closer examination says stay away. The vandal didn't miss a single panel on the body and those are deep-deep dents. You'll have to replace all the removable panels (doors, fndrs, lids) and shrink fix the qtrs, resulting in an expensive bill to fix the exterior. Then you still need to replace the dash, seats, and top. By the time you get done, you'll have a ton of $$$ in it and it'll still have 100K on the engine. With the purchase price and the repair cost you could buy a much nicer, newer, lower mileage Box.

What a shame that a Boxster can be totaled without even being in a serious accident.

Whatever you do, do NOT show those pictures to your wife or girlfriend. You don't want to give them any ideas!!!

That car is TOTALLY trashed. It would almost be fun to buy it, duct tape the seats so they're usable and just drive the damn thing as-is. :p But there is no way, no how that thing is anywhere worth the $5,000 it's going for now. Without the damage a Boxster with those miles is worth about $10,000 and there's a lot more than $5,000 worth of damage to that car.

I'd love to buy the car just to drive to work and to show my kids when they're here next summer. I'd tell everyone it's the arctic silver Boxster I already own and come up with some great story as to what happened to it - probably some story about a biker gang and me saving some fair damsel in distress, but the car protecting us from their terrible attack. :D

note to self - if engine blows - "piss of stranger" who will "vandalize" car and collect insurance money and then buy another boxster..

this would be one way to avoid having to buy a new engine........

944boy 12-03-2008 06:21 PM

I think it screams race car. Fiberglass and a gutted interior.

jmatta 12-03-2008 08:16 PM

I agree with the race car comment...this would be a perfect platform for the spec Boxster series. You're going to gut the interior anyway, put a hardtop on it and so what if the body panels aren't perfect?

Lil bastard 12-03-2008 09:54 PM

I dunno... looks to me like an owner who defaulted on the payments (I mean in today's economy there have to be at least a couple of us in that position)... and was pissed that the finance co. wouldn't extend any leniency.

Bash it up, park it on the street (pluasible deniability), report it - for the insurance, and leave it for the repo guys.... I mean the job is 'too' thorough.

That's what my money's on anyway...

That would be illegal, and immoral! :D

pbanders 12-04-2008 06:20 AM

If you're thinking about the engine, don't forget, if the doors were open, then so was the gas filler door.

Topless 12-04-2008 07:19 AM

Looks like self mutilation to me. Way too thorough. Someone wanted to make sure it was totaled for insurance. :(

YES! And with all of that body damage you would be pretty intimidating. Nobody would want to get close to you because the assumption would be that you drive like a mad man with no concern for body contact with other drivers.

My wife threatened to do that to my 911 last year, it's amazing how fast you can bring someone back from the dark side when the safty comes off. I hate to see any car suffer from the mistakes of the owner. Simply chicken $hit.

vath2001 12-05-2008 01:42 AM

My dad's a TV repair guy and has an awesome set of tools.... I can fix it!

jmatta 12-05-2008 07:39 AM

On second look, it looks like the owner was attempting to de-amber the headlights and got frustrated and a bit carried away.

It still would work for a track car; pound those dents out and it would look good from fifty feet. Nobody's ever failed tech for dents, at least not small ones. And I agree, it would definately get your competitor's attention.

dcporsche99 12-05-2008 07:43 AM

 Ouch!! That had to hurt!!! I think, actually, I know I would have been sick to my stomach if I ever saw that happen to my ride......

It was probably the last mod he purchased that made her do it! :D

Grizzly 12-05-2008 09:13 AM

I posted this just for fun, but in seriousness I agree with the posters who think the owner did the damage himself. The job is just too thorough. It looks like an insurance fraud case to me.

dmcutter 12-05-2008 01:35 PM

I think it was a bunch of berserk women who listened to Carrie Underwood's song just a few too many times.
