annoying squeak

My boxster has developed an annoying squeak that develops whenever I hit a bump.

Its orignates from the left side when sitting in the drivers seat. Its hard for me to pinpoint exactly where it comes from. Sometimes I think its near ear level behind me and sometimes I think its lower.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to solve this.

I have a sqeak in a similar location, only when the top is down and only when I am going over a bump. When I got a new GAHH top installed, the noise did not get better or worse. Mine is not very loud and I kind of got use to it. I placed a thread after I noticed the noise and nobody had any idea of the cause. The best suggestion I had was to play the music louder. I would be interested if you find the cause of your noise.

Holy crap I have the same squeak behind my head with the top up.

I spend a half hour last weekend trying to pin it down, and I even yanked off the speaker box and carpet to see if it was one of the screw downs on the engine cover.

I just might start taking things off the car one by one to drive it around and see if it goes away. Who knows, the culprit might be something simple like the roll bar insert.

It drives me friggin' nuts on a trip of any length with the top up though.

Me too. Mine goes away when i drive with the door open.
I am looking to the door car interface.

Guys, we have to get to the bottom of this and report it here. I mean it.

It might just prevent a premature sale of a boxster or a bullet in my head. :p

Hi, start by greasing the door lock mechanisms and then top cables could be sprayed with silicone, also the panel that opens and closes with the top has 2 locating cones underneath it that line up with 2 holes in the back top of trunk area, add some grease in there.

hope this helps

I've had a similar squeak behind me on the left, mainly when the window is down. If I close the door on a cloth placed near the top (i.e. in between door and car) it disappears.

I'm guessing it's part of the rubber squeaking on the door. My seals seem to be in pretty good condition, and the detailer uses the conditioning stuff, so I don't know if it's really an age or wear issue with them. I was planning to adjust the door hook a little and see if maybe the problem is the door isn't latching as tightly as it should be, and is simply moving around too much while driving. I gotta find some of those triple-square bits now...
