Bumper for 2001 Boxster

Can anyone tell me if a 2002 996 front and rear bumber will fit a 2001 986 boxster?

Thanks,
Dennis

The front bumper will fit, but you would also have to change the headlights.

The rear bumper will not fit.

Front Fit? Only with lots of mods...

Simply put, the '02 996 rec'd a face-lift in the lights which necessitated changing the fenders and bumper. Jeph a well known poster here had his front end converted to such and logged the details. Click on his profile in one of his posts for details

Rear fit? No idea but my guess is simply no.

Thanks for the advise...I though it might be just a matter of changing only bumper, but it sounds like the bumper, lights and fenders require to be changed. what about the hood?

Thanks again,
Dennis

Any rear 911 bumper is not going to fit the 986. They're completely different. Of course nothing is impossible, but it's not really practical by any means.

As noted the front 2002 996 bumper is made for different headlights. You would not only need the new headlights and fenders, but yes you would need a new hood and all of the pieces (fender liners, headlight supports, hardware, etc.) that go under those parts. It's no easy task to swap the front of a 986 to the turbo-style headlights and it's not cheap at about $5,000 in parts. However, Jeph has done it (and detailed it here, do a search) and another fellow named Danny has done it. So it certainly can be done.

The cheapest way to do this right now would be to buy Jeph's car, he just put it up for sale. Then you'd have the swap already done. If you insist having it on your personal car, then buy Jeph's car, swap the parts around, and resell the car you have left. :p
