Worthwhile Mod
Hello all -
I finally don't have to crank my neck like a contortionist to see into my blind spots now. I just installed a set of the Aspheric Side Mirrors (you can find them through Suncoast Porsche, no affiliation) and WOW does it make a difference. Especially if you drive a lot with the top up / hard top. Our cars are notorious for having HUGE blindspots and this mod is definitely one of the best yet. Thought some of you might be on the fence considering them. Even you find them a bit pricey, you can always just buy the driver's side one ... |

Found a great webpage comparing the difference with and without them. They certainly are not for everyone. http://www.toolworks.com/bilofsky/boxster/mirrors.html#install |
I've seen them pretty cheap somewhere... can't recall where though.
Our cars do have a HUGE blind spot with the top up. I just make a point to really lean over and check when merging onto a highway. I could see how these would help a lot. Kirk |
love mine, still looking for a deal on passenger side :)
I'd recommend these mirrors.
One of the first things I did on mine was to replace the OEM mirror for the aspheric- drivers side only. Once you get used to it, no more guessing- just a quick look and go. I had to replace the small convex mirror stick on junk because I had trouble with my glasses having to tilt my head up (I wear progressive/bifocals) to look at the blind spot stick on, then tilt back down to see the road. PITA. I found the drivers side one here on this forum. No more tilting of my head, it's much faster, and clearly more safe for me to operate. I am still looking for a passenger side aspheric if anyone wants to swap/sell one. |
