Strange thing today. Any ideas?

I have a 2002 Boxster S. I bought it new from the dealer in 02.
Today I was changing the oil and I got around to reading the stickers on the trunk lid.
Well the sticker in the center says .."Boxster, Displacement 2687cc...."

I know it is an S. How did the factory put a base model sticker on the trunk lid?

The car has never been in a wreck or repainted.

Ideas?
James

Factory worker had a few too many beverages at lunch, would be my guess.

Question is;

Is the sticker under the truck lid wrong? or is the "S" emblem on the top of the trunk lid wrong? :confused:

Mmmm...strange. They must've slapped on the wrong sticker but hopefully stuck in the right engine ;)

Its the correct engine, third radiator, window sticker, tailpipe, 6 speed trans.

It is just a wrong sticker. Strange. I wonder if the dealer switched the trunks because the original was damaged in the lot or something.

Do they do that?

Maybe it was like Jmatta said...The car was made in september. That is oktoberfest time in Germany. :cheers: :cheers:

If you can get your hands on a paint meter, you can tell if the car was repainted anywhere. Perhaps the lid is not original?

Look closely at the mounting hardware and where the hinges and lid come together and see if they have been disturbed, nicked. That will tell you if the lid has been removed or replaced.
