Interior lights question with more details

I asked this question before but didn't have all the details. Hopefully, someone may have an idea for a solution.

The interior lights do not work unless the key is in the ignition and turned to the right.

After the key is turned everything works as it should. Lights come on when either door is opened and go off slowly. The overhead lights also only work when the key is in and turned to the right. .

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is the third time you asked the same question. My answer is still the same. I think your car is still in the transit mode.

Here is a UK 2001 Boxster that had been in the transit mode for 6 years.

But the UK owner had the car taken out of the transit mode. My suggestion is that you do the same.

Thanks

I asked the question again because the local Dealer said that if the car was in transit mode many other things would indicate this problem . i.e. max. speed etc. Now that I presented your example they are going to reset to the delivery mode. They can't do it until May 8th as it is a small Dealership, with one mechanic.

The speed limiter when the car is in the transit mode is for the 987, not the 986. A 987 is different than your 2001 986, as there was no speed limiter back then.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Now I am worried about the capabilities of the dealer. Hopefully, it will work out.

thanks to tool pants

Thanks to tool pants the lights are fixed. The dealer had another customer with the same problem and couldn't resolve the problem. With the Web site provided by tool pants now this customer will have interior lights too.

Wink

I took my Boxster S MY01 to the Porsche dealer in Roswell Georgia yesterday with the same issue....interior lights not working unless the key was in the ignition and turned on.

The problem wasnt the Transport mode....but that a piece of the security system module had been replaced....it was described as a "plug and play" type of action that a previous owner took. Probalby related to water getting on the modules behind the drivers seat. The tech told me that when the module was replaced it was never programed so the computer basically had no idea the car had interior lights. He programed it and told it what all options were in the car...wala...interior lights work nicely now.
