Hi, I have a problem that I didn't expect. I have for sale a set of 18 inch Kineses rims that were previously on my 97. I had a buddy that wanted to buy them. We tried putting them on his car to see how it would look but we couldn't actually get it to sit properly in the hub. The center seems to be too tight to slide on to the hub/rotors.

Am I missing something here? I have swapped 17's, 18's and 19's between my 97 and other S's before with no problems. The only issue that I have encountered before are clearance with the brakes (solved by using spacers).

Are there different fitments on a base model and an S that I don't know of? We only tried to install the rears before we gave up. My Kinesis wheels are hub centric.

I was curious last night as I was angry that they didn't go on properly when I tried. I just happen to have a spare set of 17mm 996 spacers so I took them to the garage and they did fit flush on to the Kinesis wheels with some patience and even pressure. I tried the spacers on my stock 17's as well and it seems to be the same fitment although the stock wheels slid on very easily with zero pressure.

Can any confirm that the S model and base model have the same fitment. I don't want to sell something to someone that doesn't work. I am not talking about the offsett.

I don't think I can answer your question, but I find it hard to believe that the hub would be any different from a base Box to an S. Bigger rotors and brakes, but I thought they all bolted to pretty much the same pieces. I know the S has reinforced parts, as do all newer Boxsters from 2000 on.

Did your buddy's hub still have a hubcentric ring on it from his existing wheels? Hubcentric rings have a tendancy to stick to the hub after you pull off the wheel.

Thats a good point, I will take a look over the weekend. However, he has the OEM BBS sport classics. Do the stock wheels have/need hubcentric rings? My stock wheels never had them.
