CEL just on off

I've had my CEL come on for 2 days now for the second time. Usually it sticks around for 2-5 days and then goes away for a good two weeks before returning.

Any idea what this might be for?

Could be anything. You need to have the codes read. Buy an Actron code reader - $50, or stop by an Autozone and they'll read them for you.

I tried to stop by a mechanic last time, but by the time I could make some time to go down the the light was gone...

We'll just have to see the next time it pops up. But I'm just wondering what in the world could keep it coming on and off like that.

Cel

I had the same problem with my '98. Have you had the defective gas cap replaced from the recall?

Even though the CEL goes out, wouldn't it have still registered a code in the log file that can be read?

I had a gas cap failure at my last emmisions test (about a month ago). That got replaced for about 10 bucks.
I'll see if I can go today, I'm not really sure what can be causing this.
