986 Boxster hood
I have a friend that works in the automotive industry. His company is looking to make a new carbon fiber hood for our model Boxster. They are trying to decide between making:
1) An OEM Style Hood 2) An old school 911 Look -----> 3) Something completely differenthttp://images.extremedimensions.com/...lookfront3.jpg What would you guys like to see? If you want to see a new style, do you have any ideas? |
Someone in carbon fiber, and for the 987 cars as well.

1. OEM Style Hood - You can already buy a carbon fiber OEM style hood, pretty cheap too. Take a look at my sig pics and you'll see that I have one on my car.
2. Old School 911 Look - You can also already buy this from Gemballa. Not cheap though and not finished in carbon fiber (I think it's fiberglass). 3. Something Completely Different - This is what I'd like to see, but the only problem is what do you do different??? If you put scoops or vents on it it's going to look too ricer for what most perceive as a fine German car. Heck folks think that even a plain OEM carbon fiber hood looks ricer! Plus any vents or scoops are going to be just plain silly unless you want to poke holes in your trunk to vent the radiators. Otherwise they'd just let rain into the front trunk! Maybe a big bulge in the middle would be okay, but again kinda silly for a mid-engine car. Kirk |
How about carbon fiber that's painted.
I wouldn't buy one, but I prefer tasteful. I find mid-engine cars with a hood scoop vexing. |
I do think the 'classic 911' look is pretty nice. I'd like to see different angles, but it would be pretty nice.
I just don't think there's anything wrong with the stock hood. I guess I just feel Porsche got it right the first time! |
