Is this for real - Cabin Filter
I went to AutoZone today to pick up a cabin filter for the Boxster and they wanted $48.00. So I went to Ebay and there is a guy selling one for $3.45. Is this for real?
If the link doesn't work search on "Porsche Boxster Cabin Filter" All the other filters are roughly $16-$30. I'm wondering if this is a scam... -Steve |
His shipping costs are $10. Just a weeeeee bit high for something that weighs, what...a couple of ounces!! Brings the overall price pretty much in line with other online sellers. Unless you're talking the dealer which, last time I checked, wanted about SIXTY $$ for the cabin filter! holy cow.
hmmmmm. I guess I'd be somewhat skeptical of the quality, but since it's just the cabin filter and not the air filter for the engine it might be worth a try. Bob |
Oh...just looked up my invoice and last month I got a cabin filter from Paragon for 11.95. Total shipping for the order, which included cabin filter, oil filter and air filter was 8.52. No way to tell what it would be for just the cabin filter, but $10 is definitely high for just the cabin filter. And these were OEM parts, with the Porsche stamp and part number on the box. I think I'd stick with the OEM stuff for the small difference in price, if any, you're talking about.

Just get it from SunCoast... Porsche one for $60 or an OEM supplier one for $27.

Bob O,
What is Paragon? -Steve |
Paragon Products. An online supplier of Porsche (and other) parts. I've found them to be very reasonably priced for a lot of things. And not so reasonably priced on others. Sorta like other online retailers. www.********************************************************************.com 800 200 9366
You can't go wrong with SunCoast either, a Porsche/Audi dealer. I've bought a lot of stuff from them and they're a great bunch with very good prices. I got my M030 suspension from them at substantially less than I could have anywhere else I checked. PCA members get 10% discounts too...except for maintenance items (oh well) www.suncoastporsche.com Bb |
Go to the site and get the one Ekam quoted;
http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=P&Category_Cod e=986maint This is a charcoal filter, good for keeping out the fart smells. It always amuses me to think this car has a cabin filter, it a convertible and I always ride with the top down. Now my Lexus, I can understand a fart filter when I'm driving that. |

******************************** seems to be the best bet:here

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the recommendations. I'm thinking ******************************** for like $12 + S&H sounds great.

Buy some more stuff, since shipping is free if your order is more than $50.
|
There are 2 filters for the car, one a plain paper filter, the other an activated charcoal filter which costs a lot more.
Unless you're wearing the hardtop consistently, or driving more with the top up than down, the activated charcoal filter is not really any better than the plain paper one, except when it comes to separating you from your money. |
And you can use either one for a lot longer than Porsche suggests. Pop it out, vacuum it and reinstall.

I searched all over for cabin filters for my other vehicles and found A to Z auto lights to be the cheapest...I bought a few of each to save on shipping.
