Beeping sound question

I just had a new GAHH top placed on my car. (glass window and defroster). Ever since the replacement top was installed, I hear 5 short beeps every time I turn off the car. No warning lights. Doesn't really bother me, but I thought someone may know what the beeps may mean and if I need to do anything.

Thanks
Eric

The only things that I know of that causes beeps is door opened while keys in car, lights on, seatbelt, and speed limit chime.

Is it the same kind of beeping you hear from those alerts?

And what year is your car?

Jeph:
No, a totally different sound. I have a 2000 (non-S). There are 5 short beeps that are much softer sounding than the warning beeps for the lights on, etc.
Weird!

do you have an aftermarket stereo head unit? mine beeps five times after i shut of the car to remind me that i've left the faceplate in the dash.

Sounds like you'll have to get it hooked up to a PWIS or PST2 Tester (dealer or independent) and readout/reset any alarm codes.

If they disconnected the battery prior to installing the top, this could cause a 'supply voltage' fault in any or all of the control modules. This could cause the beeps you're hearing.

You might try using a simple OBDII reader, but I'm not sure these will give you alarm codes.

Lil Bastard:
Thanks. They did disconnect the batttery. I bet that is the problem.
Appreciate the help.

By the way, I do have an aftermarket radio, but have never heard the beeps until the battery was disconnected.

on mine, you can turn the reminder beeps off, but if you disconnect the battery and the radio memory gets reset, they will turn back on.

If you've got an after market radio there is a wire on the left hand side of the radio frame that you need to disconnect. I think it's brown and blue. If you leave it connected and replaced the head unit the car thinks the head unit was stolen.

I saw this tip on this forum and removed mine when installing the Avic D3
