Removing 'clear bra' film? Any advice?
My recently aquired Seal Grey '02 has clear protectant film up front. Anyway, it's got a few bumps and bruises from nearly 7 years of smacking bugs/etc. I'd like to remove it from the bumper (and leave it on the hood and fender lips because those still look great) I used the same plexiglass polish as for the rear window, and removed any haze and swirls from the hood section.
Any advice-suggestions-concerns with removal? I don't want to just start peeling without hearing someone else's experiences. Thanks as always for the great help! |
I've had no experience with removal of my clear bra. I have read once or twice that the film doesn't always prevent chips of the paint, but that it can hold the chipped paint pieces in place. Removal of the film might also remove the paint in such spots if they exist. I don't know if it's true, but it might be worth seeing if you can find out more about that. I also wonder if the paint under my clear bra is now a slightly different color from the rest of my paint.
If you do remove it, please report back on the forum how it went. I'm sure there will be a lot of interest in how it went. Thanks. |
