2002 Boxster key

Add me to the group of who only got one key with purchase. I'm planning on getting another key head and blank from Suncoast, but I need advice on if its worthwhile. Here' s the scenario:

1. I purchase the key head and blank; then get it programmed at dealer for $150

2. A day later, I lose the key.

From what I've been told, I would then need to take the car to a dealer to get it reprogrammed, making the lost key inoperable. The only advantage (after retrieving the spare key) would be being able to immediately drive the car to a dealer to get it reprogrammed (hopefully within hours), vs having it towed to a dealer, ordering a new key (or getting it from Suncoast), and then waiting for it to arrive and get programmed (days).

If this is correct, it seems to justify having the spare (programmed) key now. Please advise.
