aftermarket replica wheels

Does anyone have any love stories/horror stories regarding Pcars replica wheels?
These are the ones I like, I've always loved this wheel on Boxsters and $1068 with the alternative 18 x 10 et 47 mm rears is a deal.

I like the ones you have on your car now, they really stand out against the black paint.

unklekraker 06-18-2008 07:12 PM

that's the same wheels I got..the Carrera lightweight andf I love it coz it's a lot easeir to clean

but are you sure, you are going to put that in your car, isn't downgrading it?

Your shoes fits perfectly already in your car why change it? I changed mine coz' it;s a stock 17s and I want 19's

Quickurt 06-19-2008 04:05 AM

I don't dislike the wheels on the car, but every boxster around here has the same wheels and they look like street wheels. I think the Carrera wheels look more like race wheels. Even though they are not, they look lighter.
Here's what I really want........but they're 9 grand for the set!!

Quickurt 06-19-2008 04:21 AM

In any case, the wheels in question are replicas from Performance Cars (Pcars.com), not OEM Porsche wheels.
Does anyone know if they are acceptable quality? I don't do alot of sliding around anymore, I mainly use the car for nice, top down trips with the wifey, and she screams louder than the tires squeal!!

I am also interested in the same set of wheels ... I was reading up on the link you put up. Are you sure they will fit your 987? I am wondering if they will fit my 986 also? Please forgive my ignorance if I should know this already.

I paid $1100 for factory Carreras back in 2005. Man that U.S. Peso sucks...
These replicas used to be $800.
Kinda hard to stomach paying more than $300 a wheel for a cast alloy. Those things will dent like a pepsi can if the pot hole is big enough.
This is one of the times that buying an American made forged wheel is probably more expensive but a far better value. Forged = bulletproof.

http://986forum.com/forums/ccwheel.com sells forged for Boxster

I know the Pcars guys, I was actually at there new shop on tuesday helping them setup wheels on the wall. The quality from Pcars is very very good. I've seen some awesome before & after on refinishes, custom paint and repair on wheels, Of course they back the stuff they sell. I'll vouch for them 100% and i have a decent rep here on 986forum.

Thanks CJ, that was the info I was looking for.

Thanks to Perfectlap for the CCW link. I had lost them in a hard-drive meltdown, I was interested in using their wheels on a race project that fell through couple years back.

Check these out: http://www.ccwheel.com/files/wheelprofiles-display.php?id=C140

They have 18x8.5 and 18x9.5, but I don't know the et on them.

If I remember the Carreras that fit the 987 are 18x8 et 50mm front and 18x10 et 47mm rear.

CJ_Boxster 06-19-2008 12:01 PM

Those are nice but damn they are pretty expensive starting at $2700 and the smallest wheels starting at $675 each. Either wheels you decide to buy, Im sure they will look great on your car!

Blkboxster 06-19-2008 12:07 PM

nice, but i agree expensive

I thought I had a set of these, off a Cayman S, for 1500 bucks, but it turned out to be misrepresented. They wouldn't fit the box.......

$3580, plus shipping from tirerack. toooooooooo much.......

Heres a link to wheel enhancement for the OEM. They come in multiple widths and were the 2002 996 wheel. They do not list the et you need for the 986, but I'm sure Pcars would carry the et for the most popular possible sales.

I had those BBS wheels on a previous car. Both front wheels dented just like my factory Carreras. Paid $65 to get the dent removed and sure enough they dented a second time.

Reminded me of my Cannondale bicycle. Forked over $1000 for a frame. Went out for a ride came back, leaned the bike against a table..bike fell over and hit the edge of a chair. DENT...size of a quarter, talk about an eye sore. Cannondale said solly buddy you bought it you bent it.

Go for the good stuff if you plan on keeping the car long term.

Brumos has them on a Meteor Gray C4 in the showroom. I get a woody lookin at it!

Quickurt 06-19-2008 12:30 PM

You need to get out of New Jersey, Perfect lap. I've never dented a wheel, down here in Florida. I did ruin two on my Acura CL on Long Island.......

Perfectlap 06-19-2008 12:46 PM

I go down to FL every month to visit family and friends.
Roads are great but man to a city guy FL can be zzzzzzzzzz.

Ha, hahhhhh!! We are known for our layed back lifestyle, lapman! I go to the city and can't figure out why you guys are all running around with your heads chopped off. We'll get it done, take it easy!
If you go near the area, you MUST go to Mt. Dora. It's northeast of Orlando.
Magnificent.

Perfectlap 06-19-2008 03:51 PM

Yep I was up there on my last visit. Took a drive to that little park with the big lake, they were having some kind of fair over there and closed off he roads. Reminded me of The Waltons!
