I want to start tracking my car more... Does anyone have/use brake cooling ducts? If so, are they worth having? Any feedback is appreciated.

Don't buy the RS ducts. Get the 997 gt3,$20/set from www.****************************************************.com . Folks on Rennlist mention no improvement on the streets, effective on the track.

I'm getting the 997 GT3 brake ducts just cause,I don't expect any improvements though.

Another thing to note,the 997 GT3 duct design is VERY similar to the base 986,except it's longer. The 997 GT3 RS looks entirely different though.

I've had the 997 GT3 ducts on my car for a few months now. No noticeable improvement, but then I don't really drive my car at ten tenths on the street! One nice thing I did note is that they're not dragging, even with my car lowered. They literally were a "snap" to install too. So for the money and the ease of installation, why not?

I have the GT3 ducts. It fit without modifications and it's never dragged on my lowered car. So far the brakes have not boiled, but they didn't do it before either. However, for $20, it was a no brainer anyway.

It's not clear from your question, but you do know your car comes stock with brake cooling ducts, right? The examples everyone showed is for larger ones to replace the ones you already have

I did not realize that... even so, I am looking to enhance cooling any way I can.

Most of you have said there's not really a noticeable difference, but I imagine there wouldn't be for normal street driving.

It's false reasoning to think that more is always more.

With Stock Brakes, you're much more likely to experience improvement in switching pads than adding a larger cooling duct.

Save the $20 and put it toward better pads. Just my $0.02.

Better pads are a given...
The ducts will cool those down too. Which ducts do I want to cool my better pads?

Well, then, max cooling would come from the RS ducts; as long as it didn't delay bringing the temp of the pads up.

You could always try the GT3 ducts and if you felt you needed more go up to the RS ones.

Either way, w/ stock calipers/rotors, you'll delay the onset of fade but not eliminate it entirely - the 'S' Brakes almost do.

Houston_C4S put the GT3's on his 987 and said the factory ones were on there so tight he did not think they could be removed... then couldn't get the GT3's on easily either.

So, expect a tug of war when you get to doing the install.

Hmm, since I don't have S brakes, no sense getting the allegedly superior (at least in price) RS ducts. You may have just convinced me to get the cheaper ones.

Does any one know if ducts on a base 996 are the same as the Boxsters?

Randall, from previous posts, it sounds like installation has been easy for most folks.

I can't confirm they are 100% the same but they look the same from my 01' 986 S & my Pops 01' 996 c2.
