Nice ride - I bought a CBRXX Super Blackbird this past Saturday and the wife & I are taking the 987S to go pick it up this Saturday.

I sold my last bike in December and did not think I would miss it...

The Harley is sold. Guy is driving down from Minnesota tomorrow to pick it up.

Well, I was already planning on doing the life insurance ( another reason I quit smoking - premiums are MUCH less ) prior to her getting pregnant.

But, the reason for getting rid of the bike was for the baby :confused:

Nick, get a test ride before you buy a Buell. I've test ridden several and I was never impressed. I just think that for a sport bike they're way too rough. You expect vibration and clunky shifting from a Harley, but I guess my expectations for a sport bike include more sophistication and smooth running.

Guys be careful ! Those things are death mobiles. I've had a few bike mishaps. Having said that I've been thinking about buying another one myself. LOL. Mainly for street riding though and not really a sportbike. Sportbikes are like being straped to a speeding bullet. One lapse of concentration and you can come visit me in the hospital.

I have a 05 Ninja 636 and its a rush to ride! My dad kinda spoiled it for me though, he picked up a used Triumph Thunderbird for an amazing price and I hate to say it...I had a blast driving it. Never thought I'd see myself on a cruiser-style bike, but it looks like that time may be coming.

I had an XB9 and loved it. this new baby is supposed to be a real rocket :D

I admit, I'm not much of a crotch-rocket fan (currently riding a 'Guzi 'California Vintage' 05), 'grinding' with that fuel tank (on a Sport Bike) makes me feel as if I'm cheating on my wife...lol ! But that Yamaha is a nice looking bike indeed !!

I'm an MSF Intsructor (Basic and Advanced Riding Skills classes), and the one thing I notice with Sport Bikes is that they are meant for speed - low speed maneuvering seems to challenge many of my students with these bikes.

Be sure to spend more time practicing low-speed operation as this is where it'll get hairy on a sport bike, and in the City, this is where you'll spend a lot of your time.

If you haven't taken any MSF courses, I highly recommend doing so. I have students who've ridden for many years come to the course and comment on how much they learned... often to their surprise - not everything can be learned simply by doing. Good Luck !!!

i wanted to buy this from my friend sooo badly but my wife put a stop to it, he sold it cuz he was only getting 500 miles out of the rear tire (and he's pretty sensable)

I am seriously considering picking up a new toy tomorrow as well :D

I got a very large scooter a couple months ago - my first 'motorcycle'. It'll go 100mph, so it's not one of those tiny scooters. It gets me about 55mpg, too.

I figure I'll ride it for a couple years, then trade up to an FJR1300AE.

Listen to this man! I took the MSF basic class a couple weeks after picking up my scooter. I learned a lot, and got my riding life off to a good start. Even if you've ridden for years, you need to take this class. As mentioned, low speed skills are something a lot of people don't pick up just by doing.

We can ALL learn more.

BTW, I had fun, and I was the only one in my class to scrape a footpeg!

+2 on the MSF courses. My Dad would likely have circumvented an accident if he had remembered some basic training. In his case, it was road positioning.
